Dark Gothic Art Featuring Women

Dark Gothic art can represent a lot of things to different people, as it can be very disturbing with some of its images, and at other times - glamorous, to others.

I've put together several different dark Gothic art image here to provide a different look at the art form and subject matter. Let us know what you think about the various pictures. Which is your favorite?

This first one can escape you if you don't look closely, as it appears to be a cute woman looking at you without a problem in the world. When you take it in though, you see she is actually shackled to a line.

You get the sense that she is a performer of some type, with her being right behind the curtain, which is open for all to view her.

But it has that creepy background that suggest there is a lot more behind the curtain than the viewer sees or knows. For example, what's that castle doing in the background? Does she live there? You get the point.

Also cool is that rat climbing along the line, right above the ominous hanging noose. And of course there are the snakes lingering around her.

The creepiest thing to me is the way the woman doesn't seem to have a care in the world; as if she's comfortable in the environment.

In the photo below we have a more whimsical piece of dark Gothic art, this one highlighted with a dark blue look. I love the outfit and how the wings go together with the beautiful costume.

Dark blue is one of my favorite colors, and it flows with the darker background and frontal environment she's posing in. Nice image.

Gothic, women, and vampires are made for each other, and this is an awesome look at an eerie female Gothic vampire. The pointed tiara is stunning, giving a sense of dark majesty and power. And it appears that the points coming up are from a gauntlet of some sort she's wearing. And those black eyes, how effective is that terrific look?

With this final image it gives a look at what appears to be a Queen of some sort, sitting on her throne while her raven subjects swoop around her.

That sheer dress is outstanding, and my favorite part is what appears to be a tiara formed around her head with the back of the ornate chair or throne. That's a great design.

Dark Gothic Art

Gothic art can be very foreboding in an appealing sort of way, depending on the subject matter. But one thing about it, it usually leaves an indelible impression on the person looking at it.

I love Gothic art because it always seems to be saying something much deeper than thought, and it taps into some of our own concerns and fears we have in this world we live in.

When talking about dark Gothic art, for me that means not only what is being portrayed, but the art itself, which usually includes darker colors and hues.

With this first Gothic image, we see a Goth girl looking off into the distance at what appears to be a castle, her home, or possibly both. You get the sense that her lying down also her some respite from whatever is over there, but also her clenched fist seems to point to still remaining tense just by her dwelling on it.

Gothic Fairy

The environment surrounding this Gothic fairy image is as good as the fairy herself. From the floor she's sitting on to what appears to be a closed door behind her, you get the sense of coldness, and possibly being imprisoned by someone.

I like the way the dark and light complements one another and adds to the overall feel of the work.

My favorite of these three Gothic pieces of art is the final one here. It seems to be telling an extraordinary story, but with a great deal of mystery added to it.

The cards seem to suggest this mysterious man is a gambler. That's not all though. He is also walking on what appears to be a dock over the water, yet we can't see his destination because of his body blocking the view. It also seems he's walking upwards toward something.

Lastly, the bird flying in to land on him points to it seeming to have been waiting for him, implying the bird knows who this fellow is and was waiting for him to arrive. Pretty interesting and fascinating to me.

As you can see from these three dark Gothic works, it is a very compelling genre which can tell an amazing story, or keep you guessing as to what is being said by and in them.

Gothic Christmas Cards | Dark Christmas

Gothic Christmas Cards

Now maybe the one who made this Christmas care takes their Goth a little too seriously. But it does have its own sense of humor if you can see it.

How about that dark angel at the top, and of course the cutting off of all pine needles to bare the tree? I guess she practices what she preaches.

Now about those bony legs with the fishnet stockings...

Creepy Gothic Woman Cemetary Photo

Gothic Fashion

This is definitely a creepy looking Gothic woman, with the dark eyes looking out like she's the undead, and the graveyard as a background. It looks like she's sitting on top of a grave, either being in it and having arisen, or ready to go in. Either way, it's a pretty spooky and scary look. I like it.

Twisting Alice in Wonderland

Weird Photos

Alice in Wonderland seems to be the focus of a lot of artists and photographers who like to take the story and twist it to their interpretation or liking.

That's what has happened with the latest foray into this field, as Marcela Abal Acosta has taken Alice and turned her into a goth looking character who doesn't look at all too friendly.

This is a creative look for Alice, but this seems to be getting repetitious, and creative people maybe need some new material to work from.

But I still wonder what it is about Alice in Wonderland that makes the story such a favorite to draw material from.

Kim Kardashian as Goth

Goth Trends

Cited as saying on her website, that "Since vampires are all the rage right now, [makeup artist] Troy Jensen and I thought it would be cool to try out a more gothic, almost sinister look! This look was inspired by Prada's fall 2009 runway show and it is so unlike anything I've ever done!"

Now having seen it, I wish I hadn't. Is this a young version of Marilyn Manson? hehe!

Kim Kardashian is going to have to come to grips that she has absolutely no talent in any way, and I don't really think anyone cares that she put on makeup to look like a goth.

I agree with several writers that she should just gracefully fade away. Her 15 minutes of fame are over, she just needs to take the money and enjoy life, without us having to hear about it.

Gothic Environment | 'Batman: Arkham Asylum?'

Bizarre Art Trends

I really like the greenish/yellow colors incorporated into the latest action adventure for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 'Batman: Arkham Asylum?.' If the environment reflects the gaming experience, it will be a good one.

The look hast that gothic feel with iron gates and overgrown shrubs in a dreary but compelling backdrop, which oozes potential. And that moon in the background, How cool is that?

Now the character depicting Batman wasn't as interesting to me, as he had the usual square jawed look you'd expect, and didn't really resonate much. But that will be seen whether it's a negative or positive in the overall game.

Even so, the moonlit lighting and gothic environment gives the type of creepy and interesting look a gamer is looking for, and if it's an indication of the game, it could be good news for us.
